A plant expert will deliver lectures in Cornwall this December.

The Cornwall Garden Society (CGS) has announced that Stella Exley, an independent hardy plant nurserywoman, will be the speaker for its December lectures.

Ms Exley, who runs Hare Spring Cottage Plants, established in North Yorkshire and now nestled in the Devonshire countryside of South Hams, has a rich heritage of horticultural passion.

From a young age, she was captivated by the beauty of plants, influenced by her grandfather and father's gardens.

Her professional journey has since led her to exhibit in floral marquees at prominent horticultural shows, and she is a proud holder of three National Plant Collections® – camassia, sidalcea, and uvularia – along with Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show gold medals.

She will share her experiences of growing plants for acclaimed garden designer Chris Beardshaw, navigating the bustling Chelsea Flower Show, and her life as a nurserywoman.

Her first lecture, Camassia, Chris, Chelsea and Chaos, is set for Tuesday, December 10 at 7.30pm at The Alverton in Truro.

The following day, she will speak at Penventon Park Hotel in Redruth at 2.30pm, with the theme All I Ever Wanted to Do is Grow Plants.

While CGS members can attend for free, non-members are also welcome, and donations are encouraged.

The Cornwall Garden Society is a charity devoted to promoting and improving horticulture, sharing knowledge about gardening principles, and protecting Cornwall's natural and historic landscapes.
