The Helston Christmas Lights Committee has issued a warning following vandalism to one of the town's festive displays on Thursday night.
The committee shared a Facebook post stating that the Christmas tree outside the bus shelter at the bottom of Trengrouse Way was targeted.
Three-quarters of the lights on the main Christmas tree have been ripped off, leaving the committee with the repair work to do before the official switch-on event in one week.
"I reckon if the remaining quarter weren't so securely cable-tied," said a spokesperson for the committee, "the whole lot would have vanished!
“The lights are a bespoke set of high-quality, flickering LED lights with specially sealed bulbs, costing over £1500.

They are mains-powered, and the committee has now issued the following statement: "If they are tampered with again once switched on, don't blame us if you get electrocuted!"
In addition to the tree being vandalised, the litter bin outside the bus shelter was overturned, and the yellow advance warning road signs for the event on Friday, November 29 were defaced. Cones were also moved away from where they should be.
The committee added: “Hopefully the lights will still come on when they are put back on the tree again this weekend.
“As if we haven’t got enough to do ahead of switch on in a week’s time.”
