Wain Homes set to start work is set to start on building 274 energy efficient homes on the outskirt of Truro after the developer completed the purchase of the site.

Wain Homes SW Ltd has completed the acquisition of land at Dudman Farm in Truro to deliver 274 energy efficient new homes.

Dudman Farm sits to the south west of Truro City Centre, bordering onto open countryside and benefits from panoramic views.

Situated in close proximity to the Royal Cornwall (Trelikse) Hospital, the proposed scheme will deliver a wide range of one to four-bedroom homes set in two distinct east and west areas divided by a picturesque valley.

Construction work is set to start this month (November) with more than one third (90 homes) of the development designated as affordable.

As part of the development agreement for Dudman Farm, Wain Homes will contribute £2.3m to the local community through education, health and transport provisions. Wain Homes is also providing above policy quantum levels of open space for people to enjoy the spectacular landscape.

Mark Harding, land and planning director for Wain Homes, said: “Dudman Farm will be Wain Homes’ first development in Truro since 2013 and is an incredibly important land acquisition for the company. It will give us a very strong foothold in a prime market in Truro and demonstrates our commitment to significantly increasing the number of homes we will be providing in the South West over the coming years.

“We have been working closely with our consultant team on Dudman Farm and I am appreciative of everyone’s dedication and hard work. Due to its topography, the development has been a complicated project and I am pleased the social and economic benefits of the scheme have been realised, enabling us to make a significant contribution to desired housing supply.”
