Thousands of people celebrated the start of Christmas with a special event in Truro on Friday (November 22).
The city held its annual Festive Friday event, with the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Truro BID, behind the event, thanked Truro businesses for their support in making the night a success and thanked those who attended.
“A huge thank you to the Truro businesses, especially those which pay for the BID levy, and make it possible for us to fund and install Truro’s Christmas lights each year,” a spokesperson said.
“Thank you to everyone who came along to Festive Friday, and thanks to everyone who worked with us on the event.”
Hits Radio presenters Johnny Cowling and Lucy Start were back once again, hosting the event on stage in Boscawen Street.
Before the lights were switched on at 7pm, there was entertainment on stage. Special guests this year included members from Hall for Cornwall’s Christmas show, Jack and the Beanstalk.
Other performances included Tom Cary, The Cornwall Youth Choirs, Jason Thomas Performing Arts, Sing Choir, Cornwall Dance School, Treverbyn Academy, Hall for Cornwall Youth Dance, and Stone Roots.
The lights were switched on this year by event sponsors Coodes Solicitors and the cast members from Jack and the Beanstalk.
