Drivers have been facing long delays this morning on two main roads in Cornwall
Divers reported significant delays on the A394 Helston to Falmouth Road and the B3297 Helston to Redruth Road by Fourlanes.
The cause of the chaos appears to be two separate sets of roadworks.
Although the congestion has now slightly eased, drivers should be aware during rush hour times.
So where are the delays?
The A394 Helston to Falmouth Road experienced severe congestion at around 9am this morning, with delays stretching from Retanna to beyond the Longdowns petrol station.
One commuter reported a 45-minute journey from Helston to Penryn.
The cause is roadworks to improve kerbing, scheduled until November 29. Two-way traffic signals are in place but are contributing to significant delays.
One driver described the situation: “Avoid the Falmouth Road if you can. Roadworks are causing major delays; it took me 40 minutes to get from the overtaking lane to Halfway House, and I'm still stuck in traffic!”
Meanwhile, further delays also affected the Helston to Redruth Road near Four Lanes in Burras.
Roadwork to repair a damaged manhole cover (following a tar breakout due to bad weather) began on November 25 and is scheduled to continue until November 27.
While two-way traffic signals are in operation, reports indicate they are malfunctioning, leading to drivers ignoring them and exacerbating the congestion.
One driver described the scene as chaotic: “Chaos on Redruth to Helston road. Traffic lights at the back of four lanes don’t seem to be working very well. Dog eat dog getting through. Everyone running red lights just to get through.”
