Just days after Natasha Mossayebi's emotional farewell to the Coffee Hut new owners have now taken the reins.
It has been revealed that it is Jess Frew and her partner Kieran Beckerleg who are now the proud new owners of the popular coffee shop and cafe in Coinage Ope.
Jess, 27, admits to being both ‘excited and nervous’ for this venture but shared that meeting new people and greeting old customers is something that she loves.
This is the first business for the couple. Jess was previously working as a waitress in the Coffee Bean and Henlys in Helston, whereas Kieran currently works at West Country Fruit Sales in Falmouth.
With a passion for meeting new people, Jess explained that owning the business is something she and her partner have always wanted.
“We decided to take a leap and give it a go,” Jess told the Packet. “It’s nice to have something that is ours, something we own.
“I enjoy meeting new people; I find it so rewarding.”
With Jess at the helm for the first time this week, Jess has shared more details on the future of the business – including any changes. She said: “Tasha has done so well and has built it up.
“There’s going to be no big changes, but we are planning to add some more specials on the menu and in the future, we hope to open earlier. But we don’t have a set date on that one yet.”
Jess also added that she is looking forward to meeting new and old customers this Friday during Helston's Christmas Lights switch-on event.
Jess and Kieran have bought the Coffee Hut, which was founded five and a half years ago by Tash.
During that time, the business has successfully navigated the Covid pandemic and a credit crunch and has also seen development of its own.
Initially based in the entrance area to Fatty’s Barbers, at the top of Coinagehall Street, in July 2023 the Hut moved across the road to its own dedicated premises in Coinage Ope, the alleyway leading to the Tyacke Road car park.
Tash has now thanked all her customers for their loyal support and urged them to support the new owners.
“I honestly don’t know where to start,” she said. “I can’t thank you all enough for the support you’ve given me from day one.
“You’ve been the most incredibly loyal customers and community, and I’ve made some true friendships along the way.
She said the biggest thanks was to her amazing team who had worked so hard for her and genuinely cared.
“All of you (even the challenging ones) have taught me SO much and I couldn’t have done it without you all,” she said.
“I’m leaving with the happiest of memories and the fullest of hearts. So much magic has taken place in our beautiful hut…tarot card evenings, women’s circles, parent and baby groups, meditations, birthday parties, balls and banter, moon circles…so many connections made which will last a lifetime and I’m honoured to be a part of that.
“This space has been my happy place for such a long time.”
