A holiday park in Cornwall is looking replace some of its chalets with 'micro-lodges'.
John Fowler Holidays has submitted a plan to remove 17 chalets at its St Ives Holiday Village at Lelant, and replace them with 19 micro-lodges.
The wider holiday park currently has approximately 320 holiday accommodation units with a mixture of lodges, holiday chalets and glamping pods, and has a swimming pool, restaurant, amusement arcade, bar, crazy golf, children’s play area, laundry and shop.
The company says the replacement lodges would be of greater quality and meet the holiday park’s modern needs and demands.
A statement submitted to Cornwall Council as part of its planning application states: “Due to the heavily wooded nature of the St Ives Holiday Village, great care has been taken with this rearrangement to avoid the tree root protection areas of valued trees as stipulated in the submitted tree survey and constraints and feasibility study.”

It goes on to add: "By the proposal replacing 17 outdated holiday accommodation units with new state-of-the-art accommodation, which promotes year-round tourism, this provides not only the park but also the local businesses a more year-round economic stability.
"This also relates to the need for tourism facilities to expand or improve to maintain customer interest and public demand."
More details of the planning application can be found on Cornwall Council's planning portal, via its website, under reference PA24/08883.
All planning applications submitted to the council are available for inspection by the public and anyone is allowed to submit comments about the applications – whether in support or objection.
The majority of applications are decided by planning officers at the council under delegated powers. However, some applications will go before elected councillors who sit on planning committees.
No date has been set for when this planning application will be determined.
