A whole lot of Christmas cheer filled the streets of Penryn on Saturday as the town celebrated its Christmas lights switch-on event for 2024.
Residents, local businesses, and visitors from across Cornwall flocked to Penryn for an evening of festive entertainment.
The festivities kicked off with a performance by the Carharrack and Wendron Band, who filled the air with Christmas melodies from the chapel steps.
This was followed by a lantern parade, which made its way through the town, from the Memorial Gardens and illuminated the streets with its glow.
As the evening progressed, anticipation built for the main event.
At 6:30pm, watched by hundreds of onlookers, the Christmas lights were officially switched on.
The celebrations continued with a musical performance by Soul Sensation at the Temperance Hall, providing a lively soundtrack to the evening’s festivities.
Meanwhile, children had the opportunity to meet the man in red himself at Santa’s grotto, hosted by the charity shop, Sasha Would’ve Loved It, on West Street.
The grotto offered a magical experience, complete with gifts, cakes, and even a touch of festive snow, ensuring a memorable Christmas for both young and old.
