Well here I go again!! I'm back in intense training for this year's Race For Life event in Falmouth on May 20. It's so exciting. This will be the third race that I have participated in and the atmosphere everytime so far has been amazing.
It's girl power and most importantly every woman who takes part is raising valuable money for Cancer Research UK to aid those suffering with cancer.
As a regular face at my local gym at Falmouth Beach Hotel you would imagine the 5km event would be pretty easy for me. But, 45 minutes on the gym runner set at a medium speed and at a gentle slope is a much easier task than running competitively up Castle Drive on the day of the race! So I shall be upping the tempo of my training in the coming months and will be getting out in the fresh air (and rain!) to get a feel for arguably the most beautiful Race For Life circuit in the country.
So, why am I entering this fantastic race? Well, sadly I lost my grandad - affectionately known as Papa Jack - almost 2 years ago to fast-growing and intense throat cancer. It was heartbreaking to watch someone I loved and someone so strong to be slowly and painful beaten by an inoperable form of the disease. Not only am I running the race in his memory but i am also trying to raise money for other sufferers to ease their pain and that of their families.
Having registered for this year's event 10 days ago I am currently waiting for my Race For Life pack to arrive in the post. I have also purchased a T Shirt for the event, which I will be running with colleagues from Packet Newspapers.
Why not add this page to your favourites and keep logging on for updates on my training regime.
If anyone would like to sponsor me for the event they can by clicking on the link http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/2511
Thank you for your help and support
