Day 2: Thursday, 22/02/07
Today I receive my welcome pack from Cancer Research UK. It contains useful information about the day, tips on how best to prepare for the race (something to study in some detail, methinks…) and my race number – 351. Most importantly, it confirms my place in the race – there’s no backing out now.
I attempt to set up a sponsorship page online, on the Cancer Research UK website. I get right to the last page before I find out that there is a problem with this part of the site and the automatic message that pops us encourages me to “visit the site again later in the day.” I am slightly crushed. Never mind – maybe tomorrow…
It is now five days since I last trained. While I have an excuse in that I have been out the county for the last two days, I am beginning to get a little concerned that one trip to the gym each week is not going to be sufficient to get me round the 5km course, particularly in the time I have set myself. I begin to realise that getting motivate to train is not that easy on your own – I think it may be time to enlist the help of some supportive friends…
