Penryn councillors will be swapping meeting agendas for scripts next Saturday (January 24) when they become cast members in a town pantomime.

Penryn Federation is staging Beauty and the Beast and has had help from a number of town councillors in filling the roles.

Town mayor Mary May will become Louisa, councillor Gill Grant will be a banker and councillor Vicki Bennett will play a chef, while councillor John Kirby will don make up to be transformed into a witch.

Other roles are being filled by Joan Edney as Belle, Val Martin as Joshua Harcourt, Nancy Christophers as Mary Harcourt, Rose Webber as Gabriella, Abigail Lilly as a servant and Mary Pearce as newspaper seller and doctor.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by Val Burleigh.

The free pantomime is taking place at the Welfare Hall in West Street at 2.30pm and the story will be based in the Mabe, Flushing and Mylor area.

It has been written by David Glover, president of Penryn rotary club.
