FALMOUTH Town has been in mourning during the past week after the loss of a former third team manager.
Anthony Webb, described by former players as one of local football’s most colourful characters, collasped and died just over a week ago.
Webb was the co-manager of the Falmouth third along with Nicky Van Evelingen in the 2004/05 season.
The pair led Town to fifth place in the league and a cup semi-final. As a player Webb represented Ponsanooth and Duchy amongst other clubs in the Falmouth area.
Paying their respects on a website, a former player, said: “Webby always beleived in his players and he attracted a good faithful following of local lads. A lot of football fans and players on the Falmouth circuit are going to miss him.
Another said: “Webby, with co-manager Nicky were like Batman and Robin. Real fun on the pitch, brilliant off. Lots of fond memories.”
