A PRESENTATION was made before Wendron IV's game with Constantine Reserves on Saturday to mark the 500th Falmouth Helston League game for Tony Pentecost.

Pentecost has an incredible record in non-league football in the area having been a player/manager for eight seasons and a player for 16.

He is a left-footed defender who can play as a full back or centre half.

He started his player-manager career by guiding Falmouth Athletic to a league and cup double in the 1997/98 season.

He repeated that feat with Mylor in 2000-01 season when he won the Division Three league and cup. He has also managed Constantine to their highest league finish since in 1981.

He took charge of Falmouth Town in 2005 and after three season there he guided them to their highest placing and won them the Lockhart Cup.

All in all his managerial record includes 10 honours in eight years – five leagues, four cups and six promotions.

He has taken charge of 265 games, winning 177, drawing 20 and losing 68. This correlates to a win percentage of 60 per cent - a record most Premiership manager’s would be proud of. As a player he has represented Duchy (four years), Falmouth Athletic (four years), Mylor (two years) Constantine (two years) and Falmouth Town (four years).

The presentation to Tony on his achievements in the League was made by Wendron’s president Jack Prowse before the game kicked off.

The match itself ended in a 5-0 win to Pentecost’s Wendron side.

The deadlock was broken after 30 minutes when Wendron won a penalty. Fittingly Pentecost stepped up himself to take the spot-kick and with all his years’ of experience he, didn’t let the occasion get to him and, slotted the ball in. Wendron then added a second just before the break.

The second half started with Constantine coming at back into the match, showing great spirit and determination to keep the game alive, However Wendron’s class eventually told and they scored three more goals including an excellent dipping strike from 25 yards and a effort from an acute angle.
