Celebrations are underway after the expansion of the Tremough university campus was supported by planners.
Outline permission has been given to develop the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC) site with a £160 million expansion.
It will create more than 400 jobs and will also lead to student numbers nearly doubling to 5,000.
A £15m performance centre will be built as part of the expansion plans.
More student houses will be built and refurbishment will also be carried out as part of phase three works at the campus.
Members of Kerrier district council’s planning committee agreed with the recommendation of their planning officers and passed the application at their last meeting.
