ST GLUVIAS CHURCH: Canon John Harris was the celebrant at the Parish Mass for the Second Sunday of Epiphany.

The first reading, taken from the book of Samuel chapter 3 v 1-10, was read by Trevor Wright and the second reading taken from the book of Revelation chapter 5 v 1-10 by Eleanor Maxted. The gospel reading John chapter 1 v 43-51 was proclaimed by Richard Hopper, reader, who then went on to preach the sermon.

Father Christopher Firth led the prayers of intercession and the chalice assistants were John Hodge and Richard Hopper. Daniel Shermon was the organist.

In the evening at 6pm there was a United Service with Penryn Methodist Church to begin the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service had been devised by Churches Together in England and included readings, hymns, songs and Taize Chants. The service was led by Fr John and Richard Hopper led the prayers of thanksgiving. The Rev Arthur Cowburn was the preacher and the pianist was Daniel Shermon. Refreshments were served after the service.

Holy Communion is celebrated at 8am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; Wednesday at 9.15am and Friday at 12.15pm. The Tapestry Guild meets at 1 the Praze at 2pm.
