A public bench will not be moved from its current position at Helston Bowling Club, despite the request of a neighbouring resident.
Town clerk Chris Dawson told members of Helston town council last Thursday (January 15) that he had received a letter from a resident of Monument Road.
The resident asked for a bench on the south side of the bowling green to be relocated as its position under a street lamp had been attracting youths that could be "rowdy and intimidating."
Mr Dawson told members: "Bottles and cans get thrown into his garden. The residents feel intimidated."
Councillor Paul Phillips said that the point of the bench being placed at the head of the bowling ground was so people could watch an end of bowls.
"It would be a shame to remove that privilege," he added.
Helston mayor Niall Devenish feared that moving the bench would only result in moving the problem with it - but from a lit area to a dark one.
He suggested contacting the town's police officers and PACT (Partners and Communities Together) panel to tackle the anti-social behaviour and this was agreed by members.
