Falmouth Town started 2009 as they finished 2008, picking up all three points from a tricky away fixture.

This was their fourth straight win as Bryn Wheeler’s men continue to climb the Jolly’s Combination League table.

Town welcomed back influential defender Neil Burton from injury and Wheeler himself who has been on first team duty.

This was a game ruined by the gale force wind on a very exposed Eny’s Parc.

Town were against the wind in the first half but took the lead on 35 minutes when Ryan Harris hit a low drive which hit the post and keeper allowing manager Wheeler the easiest of tasks to slide the ball into the net.

That lead was doubled five minutes later when Steve Kellow turned in the box and although he never really caught his shot, it squirmed into the corner of the net.

Right on half time the Saints pulled a goal back when a speculative shot from Tom Benney picked up pace in the wind and flew past the otherwise superb Marc Rose.

As the wind grew in strength it became more and more difficult to stand up let alone play football.

Aggie drew level on 70 minutes as they scored from a close range Paul Dabell effort following a break away move.

Steve Kellow insured however that town continued their impressive form when he picked the ball up on the left flank and hit a cross shot which whipped over the stranded keeper and into the net.

After the game Bryn Wheeler, looking forward to a crunch match with Penryn Athletic on Friday night, said: “Any points away from home are pleasing so to get all three today in these conditions was superb.

“The only downside for me with the Penryn game on Friday was that I had to come off with a foot injury and will not be available.

“Neither will Paul Wolstencroft (hamstring) or Ryan Harris who has done something to his neck. This is a massive blow for us but with a squad of 18 it does give the other boys a big chance to impress. I will be expecting whatever side I put out to step up to the plate and take a massive swing for all three points again.
