THE Premier Scratch Bowling League at Ocean Bowl in Falmouth came to an end at the weekend with a presentation of trophies and a cup competition.

The league, which has been meeting regularly on a Monday night, got off to a great start with rookie Kali Goff setting the early pace.

By the time the league split into the two divisions, Richie Harris was leading the premier league, being perused by Kenny Goff, Kali and two time winner Troy Dark. In the championship league, Hedley Vincent was leading with Justin Keight and Mark Averiss vying for the top spot in the division.

Richie maintained his lead throughout the second half of the season with the minor placings changing all the time. Last year’s winner, Troy, had a drop in form at the wrong time and it was left to Kenny and Kali to push Richie all the way. Ed Clarke was the surprise package, coming out of the pack to mount a serious challenge with a great run of form, which saw him as the top performer of the second half of the season.

The league went all the way to the final game, Richie had a good lead, but the next four bowlers, Kali, Troy, Kenny and Ed were all on the same points! It ended with Richie taking the trophy, Troy managed to scrape second, Ed Clarke came third with Kenny fourth.

In the championship league, it was mainly a two-horse race between Hedley and Justin Keight, with the latter having a good late run to clinch the title. The surprise package in this division was Stephen Dark, who came from the pack with a brilliant run to finish third.

The high game of 258 went to another rookie, Charlie Averiss with Richie taking high series (664), high average (183) and most 200s (23).
