The closure of a building firm in Goonhavern has seen 80 people made redundant.
John Nicholls Builders, which was founded in 1962, stopped trading on Monday and administrators have been called in.
Managing director Dave Nicholls blamed a slump in the building industry and the general economic downtown.
The family-run business was working on private developments as well as building work for public authorities, including schools and hospitals.
Administrators have said that contracts the company were working on may be saved however it was not possible to make any firm undertaking.
