A DIFFICULT week for Mullion FC, which saw four first team players leave the club to join former manager Alan Carey at Falmouth, ended with a credible draw at against St Just.

Stand in managers Bo Major and Andrew Hearn had to make seven changes to the side that played against Portreath last week calling in players from the second squad. They managers asked the players for a siege-mentality performance and they got it as the Mullion players battled against the odds to claim a deserved point.

Playing into the wind in the first half Mullion had to stem long spells of pressure from St Just who took the lead after twenty minutes.

Kernow broke down the right before sending in a cross to the far post. Rob Rosvear failed to deal with the ball and fumbled it into the path of Tim George who nudged the ball over from close-range.

However, Mullion then began to dig in and their well organised defence kept the Saints at bay for the remainder of the half.

Major, during the half time interval, urged the players to take the game to the opposition and shut down the time and space they were being allowed on the ball. The players responded and put in a second-half display, which could have seen them take all three points.

Ten minutes into the second-half a good move down the flank involving Matt Fox led to the ball being played to Chris Ensink on the edge of the box. He turned and shot past the keeper to make it 1-1.

Mullion then began to press for a winner and fifteen minutes from time Charlie Cheatham broke down the left played the ball to Ben Tremayne, who crossed for Matt Fox who turned and hit a shot which clipped the crossbar and went over.

Then Ben Powell hit another effort into the back of the net in the closing stages from Matt Fox corner but was ruled offside.

Mullion play Helston next Saturday and hope to have a new manager in charge by then.
