TRURO City's fine away form in the BGB Southern League Division One (south and west) continued with this excellent 6-2 win over struggling Burnham.

Three quick fire goals early in this second half all but sealed another three points for the Cornishmen on their travels as they consolidated third spot in the league table.

After the recent frustrations of having their games against Thatcham and Windsor and Eton postponed City were happy to get back to matters on the pitch - even if the one at Burnham was not suited to their passing style of play.

The visitors, who have an impressive away record in the division, were ahead after only four minutes. The impressive Andy Watkins, who could have easily had a hat-trick on the day, picked the ball up, following a poorly cushioned header back to the home keeper, to smash the ball into the net.

A minute later and Truro could hardly believe their luck as they were awarded a penalty for handball. Top scorer Stewart Yetton stepped up to take it but saw his shot saved by Chico Ramos in the home goal.

Despite the miss City were still pushing forward in numbers and the home side looked incredibly vulnerable at the back. Therefore it came as no surprise when Yetton made amends for his earlier miss by putting his side 2-0 up.

An excellent ball into the box fell right on the foot of the long-haired striker who jinked inside a defender before firing a shot past Ramos.

Moments later Watkins tried his luck from distance but his shot was blocked. The home side then offered their first real attack. However, Dan Willment's effort was speculative at best and always going wide from 30 yards out.

On 16 minutes the home side got an effort at goal from a little closer as Leon Yarnie dribbled his way into the box only to be tripped. However, Trevor Robinson's penalty was poor allowing Martin Rice to save with his legs.

City then hit back with two chances of their own. First Andrew Taylor curled in an good free-kick which Ramos had to be at full stretch to tip over the crossbar. Then Scott Walker tried an effort from distance, which looked to have caught the keeper out with a deflection, only for Ramos to re-adjust his dive and save.

Then as the game went back and forth the home side were unlucky not to get to a goal. First Dan Willment glanced a header inches wide following a cross from Richard Witt, then Ben Huddell curled a shot at goal only for it to end up the wrong side of Rice's post.

The second half started cagey until 53 minutes when it exploded with three goals.

First a great ball forward from Taylor found Watkins who fired the ball in from close range. Then a long ball forward dropped kindly at the feet of Burnham's Jordan Dowdican who slotted the ball under the keeper. However, the home side didn't have much time to celebrate before a cross into the box from Watkins came of a defender's head fooling keeper Ramos who was left with no chance as the ball nestled in the back of the net.

However, it is only down to the expert keeping of Rice that it wasn't four goals in four minutes as he denied Burnham on two more occasions.

On 57 minutes he stopped a Dowdican effort from hitting the top corner with an acrobatic save and then he was sharply of his line to dive at Hudell's feet as he raced onto a loose ball.

Yetton and Taylor then went close to extending City's lead before Rice was called into action again on 70 minutes to tip a Yarnie shot from the edge of the box round the post.

Five minutes later the game was all but over as City went 5-2 up. Watkins raced away from the home defence and shot at goal and, while Ramos saved well, he could only parry the ball into the path of Yetton who slotted home for his second.

Yetton and Watkins were then both denied their chances to get a hat-trick when they were replaced by Liam Eddy and Sam Cooper.

Rob Paris hit the crossbar for the home side before Witt fired past Rice for what was nothing more than a consolation goal.

Leaving substitute Liam Eddy to get the final goal of the match by jinking his way past a defender before firing a right foot shot past Ramos.

In the end City fully deserved the points in this entertaining game even if the final score was slightly harsh on the home side.
