In these times of rising fuel costs and mass redundancies, Transition Truro is holding an event to help people reduce the cost of their domestic fuel bills.

The drop-in event at Truro City Hall on February 7 will include speakers who can give advice the help that is available.

It will also showcase community organisations and businesses that are leading the way in Truro becoming a lower carbon community. Some schools and other public sector organisations will be taking part.

The event focuses on the home and there will be discussion tables and “post it” boards for people to contribute ideas, raise questions, and talk to representatives of Transition Truro about issues such as how to grow their own food, create allotments and other aspects of the home, from waste to energy.

Charlotte MacKenzie, who is co-ordinating the event for Transition Truro, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for people to find out more about how to reduce household costs and help save the planet while you are doing that.

“Everyone has heard about the credit crunch. This event will help people beat the ‘energy crunch’ too!”

She added that people could come and go as they pleased, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
