The renowned Miracle Theatre Company has chosen Helston's Epworth Hall as one of the venues for its next touring production.

The company will perform Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnecut, a classic satire based on modern science that will be staged on March 10 at 7.30pm - giving Helston residents the chance to see a blend of physical theatre and comedy in their own town.

Mark Upton, from the hall committee, said they hoped the performance would lead to a series of professional visits in the autumn, in collaboration with Carn to Cove. Before all that, however, will be a fundraising concert featuring Pendennis Brass, which takes place on February 7. Proceeds from the concert will be added to pledges already received that amount to £20,000 towards the next phase of building work at the hall.

The money will be used to create a dedicated entrance to the hall - rather than through Helston Methodist Church - as well as build 'in house' toilet and kitchen facilities.

Further applications for funding have been prepared with the help of Kerrier district council's regeneration team and it is hoped that work may start as early as this spring.

Tickets for both the play and the concert are now on sale at Heathercraft in Coinagehall Street. They can also be bought by calling 01326 561636 or e-mailing tickets@epworthhall.com.
