Fundraising has begun again in earnest by the members of Porthleven and District RNLI.

After a break over Christmas and New Year, members are back into the swing of things and are holding their first event of the year to coincide with the national RNLI's SOS Day next Friday, January 30.

The Porthleven and district group has organised for a quiz night to be held at Porthleven Football Club, starting at 7.30pm. Entry to the quiz is £1 per person and there is a limit of four people per team, although individuals are still encouraged to attend and join up with teams who need extra contestants.

During the evening homemade soup with bread roll will be served for £2 and there will also be a raffle with numerous prizes.

Jean Howard, from the group, said: "We realise what a difficult year this will be for everyone, whether it's their own family budgets or helping all the various charities people so generously support but we hope for the best."

The group's annual general meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, from 7.30pm at Porthleven Football Cub. Looking further ahead, Porthleven's Lifeboat Day is due to take place on Sunday, August 16.
