Education is supposed to provide the building blocks for life and one Falmouth-based primary school has decided to take this saying literally by inviting a construction company in for a two-part lesson.
Mansell Construction Services, who are currently building the extension to the pump production plant at Watson Marlow in Bickland Water Road, will visit 60 pupils at St Francis Primary School to talk about the development and show them high visibility clothing and equipment.
Two days later the children will be issued with their own hard hats for a tour of the Watson Marlow site.
Both lessons will take place in a fortnight’s time.
Ken Hambly, business development manager at Mansell, said: “We are committed to working with our local communities here in Cornwall. Health and safety is of paramount importance on any construction site and it is never too early to learn.
“We will obviously make it a fun learning experience for the children, but there will be a serious message too.”
