Talented young people from Cornwall and Devon will take part in a creative showcase at the Eden Project on Saturday January 31.

Eden will serve as the backdrop for the work of almost 150 young people aged between 13 and 20 with more than 100 of those performing in the Mediterranean biome on the day.

Music will come from artists as diverse as the all-female vocal harmony group Satin Dolls, singer-songwriters Martin Skews and Hush With Your As, hip-hop collective The Prophecy and rock acts Gon 2 Far, The Rip, Oracy and The Vinyls.

The dance and performance category will feature hula-hooper extraordinaire Leonie Wintercrane as well as the Tanoshii Taiko drumming group. Contemporary dance is well represented too, with Transforchestration, Base Funk 2, I.C.Me, TR14ers, Dreams and R & K.

Displays of the best photography, film and creative writing entries will be on display in the Core, Eden’s education centre.

Photographers and film-makers have interpreted the brief of light at a time of the darkness in a wide variety of ways, as have budding writers who were asked to imagine the world in 25 years time.

Sam Kendall, Eden’s education development officer, said: “We are really excited to be hosting this fabulous celebration of young Westcountry talent.

"We were overwhelmed by the quality of the entries to the Bright Young Things competition and feel certain that Cornwall and Devon’s deserved reputation for creativity is in safe hands.

“Maybe in a few years some of these bright young things will be playing the Eden Sessions stage, exhibiting their artwork in the Core or writing for Eden Project Books.”
