PENRYN METHODIST CHURCH: Mary Mavers, formally of the Redruth Circuit, which has now joined together with other churches and has become the Falmouth & Gwennap Circuit, was welcomed to morning service by Margaret Dancer.

Mrs Mavers read the first lesson a paraphrase of Psalm 46. Andy Pollard read the New Testament lesson from St Marks Gospel, chapter 1 v 14-20.

Mrs Mavers sermon had the title “Follow Me”. She spoke about a man who on Tuesday became President of the United States and how with great courage he made his speech asking for God’s help for all people.

Another man of strength, courage and faith stood up many years ago. He was John the Baptist and his message was to follow Jesus. Jesus Himself told us about His heavenly Father and how we are to follow Him and become the people we were created to be. We just have to listen for His guidance to see what choice He has made for us to work for Him.

The hymns taken from Hymns & Psalms were accompanied by Myra Bennett with one of the hymns chosen by Mrs Mavers to follow the sermon Will you come and follow me if I but call your name.
