The Cornwall Austin Seven Club was in the Falmouth and Helston area for one of the regular monthly runs at the weekend.

Members with fourteen 'Sevens' met at Carnon Downs and then travelled through the lanes around Penelewey and Porth Kea before going westwards by way of Penryn and Mawnan Smith, onwards to Porth Navas and Gweek.

Steve and Jean Carter of Falmouth were enjoying only their second run out in their 1931 RM Box Saloon and took all the narrow lanes and hills in their stride. The hills are a test for both car and driver who has to go back to the basic skills of driving and know how to use the gearbox, especially on the pre-1932 'Sevens' with three-speed crash boxes.

Inevitably the ford at Little Australia, near Gweek was on the 40 mile route as they made their way on to Mawagan-in Meneage, Manaccan and St Anthony in Meneage before taking a lunch stop at St Keverne. The weather held off for the whole day, so the winter sunshine made the scenery all the more enjoyable. The club has a regular monthly runs somewhere in Cornwall, and wherever they go they attract a lot of attention when parked and turn many heads as they pass through the villages.
