Two talented youngsters from Truro who attend Bodmin Stagecoach Theatre Arts are ten year old Matthew Lammin who is being congratulated by fellow pupil Alex King. Matthew attends Trewirgie Junior School in Redruth and has successfully auditioned for a Channel 4 Documentary produced by Love Productions called ‘Boys and Girls Alone’. He was selected by the Producers who interviewed him at home with his family present including 4 year old brother Joel who also attends Bodmin Stagecoach. Thirteen year old Alex attends Truro School, and has recently returned from filming in Los Angeles using motion capture, at studios that have been responsible for films such as Lord of the Rings and King Kong.

Principal Joy Clarkson from Truro who runs Stagecoach Bodmin said: Alex is no stranger to appearing in movies. He played Aaron A. Aaronson in the 2007 hit film Hot Fuzz. Now Matthew is following in his footsteps. I was contacted by Channel 4 who asked for a variety of children, with some being easy to manage and others presenting more of a challenge. Matthew falls between the two; he has the making of a stand up comic and has a cheeky sense of humour! ‘Boys and Girls Alone’ is due to be aired on Channel 4 on 3rd February at 9pm. The documentary consists of 4 hourly programmes, in which a group of 10 boys and 10 girls were placed at first in separate living quarters. Both groups were left to run their own households: cooking, cleaning, washing and shopping.”

Matthew’s mother Liz Lammin said: “There was constant supervision by a chaperone within each group to ensure the safety of every child. A Psychologist was on site to ensure the emotional welfare of each child. Parents were aloud to view the activities via CCTV (Bathrooms excluded!). Each parent had headphones to listen to their own child with the microphones placed in every room.”

Matthew said: “I really enjoyed the experience. On the second and last week the Producers decided to change the dynamics and bring both the girls and boys groups together which was great fun.” The objective of the programme was to see how children react in an environment without any rules and adults. Both Matthew and Alex are performing in Kidz 4 Cornwall at the Hall for Cornwall at the end of January.
