A haul of nearly £1,000 worth of stolen property has been uncovered at an address in Porthleven and now residents have a chance to reunite themselves with items they thought they might never see again.

All of the items are now kept safe at Helston police station and those who have lost their property have been given a chance to reclaim it.

Police have made an appeal to anyone with missing property, much of it car related and essential, to come forward and identify it.

Half a dozen car CD players, nine petrol and fuel containers-commonly used to power outboard motors on boats, car headlights, a wheel arch extension and a BMX bicycle are thought to have been stolen during last summer.

The headlights and the bicycle are both thought to be worth over £100. Police also expect the CD players to be worth in the region of £40 to £50 each, as are the petrol containers.

Residents in the Helston, Porthleven and Nancegollan area who thought they may have lost their property for good are encouraged to visit the station and claim them. Some of the items have already been identified.

PC Dave Tyler, from Helston police said: "Unfortunately not many of these crimes were reported to us at the time, so this is an appeal to the losers to recover their stolen property."

He added that although many of these items appeared related, there had not been a spate of car-accessory related crimes recently.

Police in Helston have suspicions that the theft of these items happened around August and September 2008.

A man has been released on police bail in connection with the theft.

PC Tyler said: "One suspect, who we can confirm is a male, is on police bail at the moment in relation with these crimes."

Anyone who is missing any of these items should contact PC Dave Tyler on 08452 777 444.
