Porthleven manager Gary Marks says his side can win the Cornwall Senior Cup this year after overcoming Millbrook in the third round.

Speaking about the Millbrook match, Marks said. “We were in control of the game for the 90 minutes. They came and had a go and closed us down quickly which you would expect from a cup game but whether were scored one or ten it didn’t matter, the main thing is that we got through.”

Many people now rate Port as second-favourites for the competition, with only Saltash left in the draw who are placed higher in the football league ladder than them Port, who currently sit top of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Division One (west), will fancy their chances but Marks is cautious about labelling his side a second-favourites just yet.

“There is still a lot of good sides left in so I wouldn’t say we are second favourites but like any manager in the competition I think we have a good chance.”

Marks, also hopes the draw on Thursday for the last eight is kind to them. “I would be more than happy with a home draw.

“Obviously Saltash coming from the South West Premier League would be the favourites so we would like to avoid them,” he said.
