It was a coffee morning to remember for the Cancer Research UK group based at Helston's Guildhall as one charity worker received a special award for her service and the club reached a momentous landmark.

County organiser Sam Williams presented Wendy Keverne with a special 30-year service badge in the monthly coffee morning at the Guildhall.

This came on the same day that the Helston committee was presented a special certificate to mark raising £125,000 since the Helston branch started. The coffee morning alone raised £234.

Margaret Eva, treasurer for the branch, said that Wendy was delighted with her award and the committee was proud to reach such a special milestone.

"We are always tremendously grateful for the support we get at our coffee mornings," she said.

Coffee mornings at the Guildhall take place on the last Tuesday of every month, the next one being on February 24.

The committee is also planning to host a big breakfast at Tregarrick Farm on Friday, March 13 to keep the fundraising going for years to come.
