Staff at Truro City FC have emphasised that players will be entitled to the full amount of their wages at the end of this season, after they took a temporary cut.
City, who play at Treyew Road and currently lie third in the Southern Football League Division 1 South and West after three successive promotions, are backed by millionaire chairman Kevin Heaney, who owns housing company Cornish Homes. But the credit crunch has since hit.
As a result, players at the club have had their wages slashed by half and administration staff by 20 per cent, but club officials insist this is only on a temporary basis.
Club secretary Ian Annear said: “The players have agreed to a temporary deferment of their wages, but they will receive their full entitlement in May.”
He added that this was simply due to economics.
