A two mile section of the eighteen mile Camel Trail has had to be closed for essential works at Tresarrett near Blisland for a period of six weeks.

The work will commence on February 2 but there will be access through the works site for half term week so the whole Trail will be accessible from February 14th to the 22nd.

Tim Bird, Cornwall County Council Principal Countryside Officer says: “The work on the Trail is necessary to repair a significant land slippage which removed part of the Trail at the end of last summer following torrential rain and high water levels. The slip occurred in a particularly difficult location where the Trail is sandwiched above the river and between a high rock shelf greatly constraining the working width”

The Trail will be signed closed at key points up river of Tresarrett and at the Forestry Commissions Shell Woods car park. Notices will also be placed at Hellandbridge, Dunmere, Bodmin and Wadebridge.

The works will involve the re-construction of the railway embankment from below river level to Trail height.
