Hotel staff in Falmouth found a man with serious head injuries yesterday lunchtime.

Shortly before 1pm yesterday police were called to the Falmouth Beach Hotel in Cliff Road, where staff had reported finding a man in his 50, suffering what appeared to be serious injuries.

A 52 year old man was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where it was decided he needed transferring to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, for urgent treatment to a head injury. He remains in a serious condition.

Police officers are now looking into the circumstances surrounding what is being described as a "serious incident."

At this time, it is not known how or where the man sustained his injuries and police are anxious to trace his movements, the night before.

Police are appealing for any witnesses that may have seen a man in his 50s, carrying a dark coloured bag or holdall, in The Moor area, Cliff Road or Mongleath Road, Falmouth between 10pm on Friday 30th and the early hours of Saturday.
