Falmouth Harbour Commissioners has two new Commissioners, Richard Reed and Rob Yates.
Richard and Rob replace Mike Reynolds from Falmouth Docks and former chairman Andrew Bell, both of whom came to the end of their three year term in December 2008.
Richard and Rob have a wealth of experience to bring to the board. Rob Yates qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1970 and has had a variety of management positions in the steel and engineering sector. He was Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Portman Building Society prior to the recent merger with Nationwide Building Society and is currently a Director of Coastline Housing Ltd. Rob, a resident of the Helford River, has been a leisure user of the harbour for many years.
Richard Reed was formally the Managing Director of Seacore Ltd. Working within the company for more than 20 years he became a Commercial Director when Seacore combined with the Fugro Group in 2006. Richard is a regular user of the Harbour and brings to the Board considerable experience in the commercial maritime sector. Chairman David Ellis, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard Reed and Rob Yates to Falmouth Harbour Commissioners. Our aim is to create a diverse Board of Commissioners, each providing a different area of expertise. I am confident that both Rob and Richard will enhance our existing board by providing a new and interesting perspective based on their extensive experience.”
The recruitment process took place in October 2008. Falmouth Harbour Master Mark Sansom commented “We had a very high standard of applications for our two vacant positions, coupled with a large number of applicants. It is fantastic that people are taking such a keen interest in the Harbour and we hope that candidates who were unsuccessful this time round will reapply in the future.”
Should you have any questions for the new commissioners, or any other member of the FHC Board, they will be present at Falmouth Harbour Commissioners’ Annual Meeting, which takes place on the 1st April at 19:30 in the National Maritime Museum.
