Pupils at St Mary's primary in Falmouth have been building their own mean green racing machine thanks to help from two Helston car experts.
The "Green Goblin" electric eco-friendly racing car is designed to help primary pupils explore practical engineering.
Mark Skinner, who owns a body repair shop in Helston and Dale Reardon, who builds racing cars for a living have been helping pupils build the car and later this summer pupils will pit their creation against other electric cars at a race at Newquay Airport.
Headteacher at St Mary's Jacqui Scarborough said: "Thanks to Vaughan Curnow from Cornwall College, who inspired us to take part. The whole school is excited. It covers many parts of the curriculum in a fun safe and exciting way."
"The pupils are also exploring the world of marketing and sponsorship as well as science and technology. You never know St Mary's may be the breeding ground for the next Lewis Hamilton."
Mark has even donated five, racing style boiler suits for the pit team Dale said: "The children really enjoy it and gain great experience. It is great to see the girls get involved in engineering."
While all the cars at the race will be identical inside, the schools will be designing and creating their own body.
The The car was bought for the school thanks to sponsorship from Ian Grant from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
