A former confectioners from the 1930s is returning to its roots in Truro this Saturday when the shop opens as a traditional sweet shop.
Pennyworths Traditional Sweet Shop, at High Cross, adjacent to Truro Cathedral will be officially opened by the city’s deputy mayor at 9.30am.
The Grade II listed building used to be run as confectioners Trevaskiss.
In more recent times it housed the Chimes tea rooms and then the Woolwich.
Dave Crowhurst, from Pennyworths, said: “We have taken much care and effort to capture the feel of a traditional sweet shop in both its look and product availability. We wish to provide a memorable shopping experience to all of our customers whether they are young or old.”
More than 150 different types of nostalgic and modern sweets will be available from jars, with local suppliers such as Trenance Chocolate from Mullion also stocked.
