As recession starts to bite, more people are considering taking a new career direction and Falmouth Marine School have the perfect six month course to get them there.
The Traditional Boat Restoration and Repair City & Guilds Level 3 course at Falmouth Marine School is holding a drop in Open Day for anyone interested in wooden boat restoration and repair or who would like to find out more about the course.
On Friday December 4, 10am – 4pm at Ponsharden Boatyard, visitors will have a chance to talk to tutors and students about the course as well as seeing how this year’s projects are progressing.
The course, which runs for six months starting in February 2010 or September 2010, covers all aspects of traditional carvel and clinker hull construction, focusing on the repair and restoration of a range of wooden boats.
Falmouth Marine School has a long history of providing boatbuilding courses and this is the only place in Cornwall where you will gain specialist training with access to dedicated workshops.
Alex Whatley, Curriculum Area Manager for Boatbuilding at Falmouth Marine School said: “This is a great opportunity to see firsthand the quality of work being undertaken by our students and to meet the staff. If you can’t attend the Open Day then please check out our Boatbuilding Webcam on the College website www.falmouthmarineschool.ac.uk, where you can look in on the students’ progress throughout the course. The webcam is also linked to a screen at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth.”
