The text is thoroughly researched, informative, accessible and up to date. The Guide is copiously illustrated with colour photographs over 100 of which are new to this edition and includes a general introduction to the geology, climate and garden history of Cornwall, a list of nurseries and garden centres in the county, and a calendar of garden opening times.
Douglas Ellory Pett was a member of the Garden History Society and of the Cornwall Gardens Trust. He wrote The Parks and Gardens of Cornwall, and Creative Gardeners, and was co-author of The Historic Gardens of Cornwall. He edited From A Cornish Bishop's Garden, and was a regular contributor to The Cornish Garden.
Margaret Grose has degrees in Medieval and Modern History, and in the History of Modern Art and Design. She worked in Truro City Library, and later taught history. She is the author of Tremough, Penryn: The Historic Estate.
