Shirley Hrydziuska is Falmouth's newest town councillor after she won a local election for the Penwerris Ward by a majority of 20 votes.
Mrs Hrydziuska, representing the Conservative party, won 324 votes in Thursday's election ahead of Labour candidate Kim Moreton who had 304 votes and Kerstin Peters-Gauld, who achieved 167 for Mebyon Kernow.
The new Penwerris Ward town councillor, who replaces David Noakes who resigned because of work commitments, told the Packet she is now looking forward to her first meeting on Monday.
"I'm over the moon," she said. "It's a wonderful personal achievement for me."
