While it may not have the ability to travel through time and space, Porthleven has seen the return of the traditional police box made famous by Dr Who, in a modern day equivalent.
A shed at The Moors playing field near Methleigh Bottoms is being transformed into a base for the port's police officers.
It will offer the same facilities as the old police boxes that acted as a temporary base for the village bobby, where people knew they could always find them.
They have since become a familiar sight on TV screens in the science fiction serial Dr Who, which began in 1963 and is still on screen today, with the Dr's time travelling machine the Tardis taking the form of a police box on the outside.
