New Lizard Lifeboat coxswain Andrew Putt carried out his first official fundraising duty when he accepted a cheque for the Lizard Lifeboat Appeal.

Mullion-based holiday letting agents Cornish Cottages announced earlier this year that they had chosen to support the appeal over the following 12 months.

Owner Peter Collins and his staff have presented a cheque for £5,066 which will go into the appeal fund for the new Tamar class lifeboat that is due to arrive at The Lizard by the end of next year.

Coxswain Putt was accompanied by station mechanic Dan Atkinson, lifeboat operations manager Ned Nuzum and deputy launch authority John Harris.

The building of the new lifeboat station is progressing well and is on schedule for completion by next year.

Lyndsay Bray, from the Lizard Tamar Lifeboat Appeal committee, said: "Huge thanks to Peter Collins, his team at Cornish Cottages and indeed to all of their visitors who had donated so kindly to the appeal."
