THE swimmers from Carn Brea Swimming Club performed well when competing against some of the countries strongest swimmers in the 2006 Plymouth Open Meet.
David Studley, Megan Cookson, Eleanor Gordon, Angus Bailey, Piran Saunders, Lauren Kenchington and Mark "Twiggy" Lewarne all did well. Swimmers produced some strong performances reaching the finals on numerous occasions and securing a number of top three, s, ensuring that Cornish swimming couldn't be overlooked.
Full results from the event: David Studley (boys 15 years and over age group): 8th, 100m butterfly (1:05.71), 6th 200m butterfly (2:28.68).
Megan Cookson (girls 15 years and over age group): 6th, 50m butterfly (34.94), 7th, 50m freestyle (30.83), 9th, 100m freestyle (1:09.07), 11th, 200m freestyle (2:34.83).
Angus Bailey (boys 15 years and over age group): 3rd, 50m butterfly (27.68), 2nd, 100m freestyle (56.21), 4th, 50m freestyle (26.14).
Eleanor Gordon (girls 13/14 years age group): 3rd, 50m breaststroke (38.20), 3rd, 100m breaststroke (1:22.76), 3rd, 200m breaststroke (3:00.28), 6th, 50m freestyle (30.75), 11th, 200IM (2:50.35).
Mark "Twiggy" Lewarne (boys 15 years and over age grou): 8th, 50m freestyle (27.53), 13th, 50m breaststroke (38.16), 17th, 100m backstroke (1:13.41), 20th, 100m freestyle (1:01.54).
Piran Saunders (boys 13/14 years age group): 12th, 50m breaststroke (45.93), 13th, 50m backstroke (40.05), 13th, 50m backstroke (32.72), 20th, 100m backstroke (1:29.99), 17th, 100m breaststroke (1:34.92), 25th 50m freestyle (35.22), 16th 50m butterfly (40.57).
Lauren Kenchington competing in the girls 11/ 12 years age group: 29th 50m freestyle (36.51), 36th, 100m freestyle (1:20.03), 48th, 100m backstroke (1:31.40).
