Richard Sadler (Carlyon Bay), who began his career at Budock Vean Golf Club close to Falmouth, proved his quality once again in winning the Truro pro-am by two shots in one of his infrequent excursions in the West Region.
His flawless five-under-par round of 61 over the tricky shortish course relegated Chris Gill (Hele Park) to runner up.
Sadler, who once played with success in America, dominated the Cornish golfing scene in the winter. He won the Cornwall Alliance order of merit with a flurry of victories.
But, after leaving Mullion to join Mark Rowe as teaching professional at the hotel course near St Austell, he seldom ventures out of the county.
Martyn Thompson (Parkstone) won the team prize for the second successive year on 113 (-19) with the Healey Builders team of Darren Healey, Steve Enoch and Grant Champion.
But he damaged his shoulder and was forced to withdraw from the RCW 2010 Wales PGA Championship at Marriott St Pierre.
Local scores - 61 (-5), Richard Sadler (Carlyon Bay) £802; 65, Nick Rogers (Falmouth) £176; 67 Mark Bevan (Newquay), Chris Benians (West Cornwall).
