A couple from Falmouth spent the weekend celebrating the events of 1966 - not the English World Cup win or the 1966 tall ships race leaving Falmouth but their forty years of marriage.
Suzanne and Michael Morris celebrated with family and friends.
Suzanne moved to Cornwall at the age of 12 and met her husband to be two years later. Sophistication was Michael's middle name and Suzanne could not resist him after he dunked her in the water on Castle Beach.
Michael, a Penryn boy, was soon to leave for a life at Birmingham University with further training in Loughborough.
Suzanne continued to enjoy life locally and their commitment to daily letter writing mean that there was no such place as far away.
Michael returned to the area and the couple were married on August 6 1966.
Their commitment to each other and their family has been balanced with their own sporting and social interests.
Michael is well known for his successful teaching career at Falmouth School and his involvement in many sports, especially rugby.
Suzanne had a varied working life, eventually retiring from Abbey National where she enjoyed the day-to-day contact with people of the town and is now a popular member of the bowling club in Falmouth.
The couple are well loved by their children, Julia and Mark and their four grandchildren who wish them all the best for their future happiness.
