A memorial six-a-side cricket tournament helped raise £500 for research into bowel cancer, while £130 was also given to the Penryn surgery.
The tournament, organised by Rodney Churcher in memory of his late father Brian Churcher, who died from bowel cancer, featured eight teams, including Constantine social club, Falmouth cricket club and other local teams.
Starting at 10am, the teams played six, eight ball overs per game, and the final was contested, almost ten hours later at 9pm, between Falmouth cricket club and the Churcher Six. Falmouth made 96 from their overs whilst the Churcher Six fell just short at 92.
Ultimately though the day was a great success with fine weather and a BBQ helping to let all those involve have a great time and enjoy the cricket. Rodney Churcher thanked all those at Falmouth Cricket club who helped run the day and those who had donated prizes for the raffle.
