Cornwall College is offering free bus transport from September as part of a support package to some new and returning students.
Students aged 16 to 18 can apply for help from the Learner Support Bursary Fund which will cover the cost of a year’s bus pass. To be eligible, students will need to live more than three miles from the college and live in a household where the total annual income is less than £31,000.
Peter Sampson, corporate head of learner services at the college from the college, said: The new transport offer is more inclusive than previous offers with a higher household income threshold and takes into account our current students who will no longer receive the Education Maintenance Allowance in the next academic year. This is an excellent offer meaning that students will not have to be concerned about how they will get to college.”
The offer will benefit significant numbers of 16 to 18-year-old students at campuses in Camborne, Newquay, Saltash and St Austell as well as Duchy College, in Stoke Climsland and Rosewarne, and Falmouth Marine School.
Those not eligible for funding support will be entitled to benefit from college transport at a rate of £300 for the 2012/13 academic year.
Anyone requiring more information about the transport offers should visit cornwall.ac.uk or telephone 0845 22 32 567.
