The Olympic Flame will be flown to RNAS Culdrose from Athens on board British Airways flight BA2012 on Friday evening, May 18.
After spending the night at RNAS Culdrose the Flame will be flown by naval helicopter to Land’s End ready for the official start of the relay.
8,000 torchbearers, some local and some corporate, will carry the Olympic Flame for approximately 300 metres each, passing the Olympic Flame from torch to torch until it reaches the Olympic Stadium on the eve of July 27.
The route through Cornwall sees the first torchbearer begin their run the famous signpost at Land’s End just after 7 am.
