A Falmouth art gallery will be celebrating the arrival of the Olympic Torch this weekend, when it unveils five specially commissioned Olympic-themed watercolours by an award winning artist.
Beside The Wave, on Arwenack Street, is the only art gallery in the world to feature paintings from the series, created by Emma Cousin and commissioned by Olympic sponsors Deloitte.
To complete the commission, Emma travelled to the Olympic swimming heats and captured some of the excitement and colour first hand.
Ingrid Heseltine, director at the gallery, said: “The rhythm, colour and movement of the swimmers was instantly appealing and in this Emma’s focus was on individuals, the moments of the action and the breath in between to highlight the strength, beauty and wonder of our athletes.
